How much does storage space cost per m²?
The rental price of a storage unit increases as the size of the unit increases. The costs per square metre will then decrease again. The table below gives an indication of the minimum prices of the different sizes of storage units.

- – Packaging materials: To move your belongings, you will probably need materials such as moving boxes or bubble wrap. These are available at every 1BOX location. Check here which packaging materials are available.
- – Shelving units: To set up your storage box logically, you can use shelving units. This is optional, but very useful. You can purchase shelving units at the hardware store or find them via Marktplaats.
- – Security: In addition to the standard security of the facility (such as entrance gates and security cameras), you purchase an extra lock to lock your own storage space.
Tip! You don’t want to save on security, so don’t go for the cheapest lock, but delve into the price/quality ratios.
The rental period of the storage unit
Also, think about how long you need the storage space. Many storage facilities offer a choice between monthly and annual rentals. A monthly rental gives you flexibility for short storage periods, while an annual rental agreement is more beneficial if you plan to store for longer. Look at your storage needs and plans to determine which rental period suits you best.
Tip! The flexible contracts at 1BOX have a notice period of 15 days. As a result, you only pay for the period in which you actually use the storage space.
Contents insurance
You can take out separate insurance for temporary storage. Check your current contents insurance to determine whether the storage box is within your contract or whether you need to insure it separately. The cost of the insurance you need is determined by the replacement value of the items you are going to store.
